This picture was taken with my phone, but for now it is not the quality of the equipment but the quality of the text. But I am planning to buy a real camera.

Musicians at BCAT

I had a wonderful experiences at BCAT today. The musicians played many songs and told us of their past history and how they got started. One very important thing they talk about was don’t give up on something you love. Here are some pictures. Sorry I could not put the video in but I will try.

VII multimedia videos

I saw a video about Hip-hop from Israel and Paslistine. It was very different from the Hip- Hop in the U.S.A. they also had pictures to go with the video. They rap about their life and what they go though everyday, In every picture taken in or outside the home there was a gun. In the U.S.A the hip- hop songs are mostly about how much money they have. I love the beats, or sound, the lyrics were ok, but didn’t interest me that much.

The second part of the video was more interesting. The guy was rapping in English with the voice of a women singing in Arabic which i thought was really interesting. it bought hip- hop to a whole new level for me. Because everytime I hear hip- hop it always with computer generated mucis.

I wish I would hear more of that kind of hip-hop

1. What is the plot of the video?

The plot of the video was the guy hated his life and he was depress.

2. What do you think of the technical quality of the video?

I think the technical quality was good very creative.

3. Was the message of the director/animator imparted clearly or not, and why?

The message of the director/animator was somewhat clearly, at first it made sense then it got a little confuse because I thought he just hated his job, then he would just quit, but since he killed himself he really hated his life.

4. How effective was the choice of music to the story?

The music was ok but i didn’t like the choice of words so much. May be because the character was just standing there. it was not that effective. what was he a creep to, his life or the world

5. If you were the director, will you do the video differently? Or not? Explain how and why you would do it.

I would do the video differently, I would show the real problem of his life because, if he hated his job he would do like normal people and quit. or unless the job was like the last straw. I would also use bright colors to show his happy days. and in the end show he found hope to enjoy life.

6. Can you relate (or not) to the character in the story? Why? Give an example based on your personal experience.

In some parts of the story I can relate to the character, sometimes you do feel left out in the world. especially when relationships end, or someone you love dies or you are working and but cannot save your money. You tend to get depress and feel angry that you trying to make things right but it’s not working out.
7. Do you agree (or not) to what happened to the character in the end? Please explain.

No I would show his life outside the workplace, because the workplace does not appear to be the problem in his life. and i would show a time when he was really happy and what cause him to kill himself or was he like this is whole life. but I wouldn’t end it with him dieing because it shows him giving up on life. and life is not about dieing because things are hard. it about finding happiness and over coming fears, cry if you must. His video is implying only the strong survive.

8. If you were to make your own version, what do you think are the challenges that you are currently facing?

The challenges I would have would be drawing

9. If you are facing low morale or burnout, how do you deal with it?

You pray to God for wisdom, guidance and protection. you trust your instincts and learn from your mistakes life is a lesson not a question, and also do what makes you happy.

The challenges I’m currently facing is trying to figure out a way to by a home or condo, so i won’t be stuck paying rent for the rest of my life. and looking for a better job, to adopt a kid who’s parents don’t care. and to learn how to play the piano. I know my plans are crazy.

hello readers

I went on the media that matters on youtube and saw many interesting documentaries about things going on in the world.

there was one about kids in Africa suffering with HIV and another video about the struggles Africans Americans girls go thought as a child and gr woning up into adult facing racism and where they belong in society.

Seeing Avid again

This was suppose to be my third blog but i don’t know what happen to the second one.

I’ll give small detail as to what I did during my production shoot, I help out in the studio and help Britney with her shoot, everything went well, I got to see step dancers , they performed many dance routines and i touch a little bit on avid

Today was another production shoot. the person being interviewed was a baskets ball codinator. He told us little about what he did and his family.

I did cameras work, and place the equipment back in the right position.

Second day at BCAT

Dear readers

My name is Jasmine Cherubin, I attend Borough of Manhattan Community College, I study Video Arts and Technology. This major was really fun I met lots of people, contacts and learned lots of things.

I’m currently interning at BCAT, this is my second day, So far it looks really interesting, I was impress with the studio and equipment. They also have a green screen, I would love to learn how to use it and it’s effects in avid pro. I forgot to mention i have lots of experience with avid pro. made some movies on it. I liked it.

The reason why I’m interning for BCAT because, it’s a really good program I will learn lots of things besides editing or setting up for a shoot. The only concerns I have are how do the shows work. Will we be editing the shows to go on air or do i have to come up with my own show to put on air.

Well so far it looks like it is going to be a fun summer. later
