Yesterday I help with two productions and it was really fun, the first one i was nervous because i didn’t know where things were but after a while I started getting the hang of things. The shoot went well and we got free fudge at the end.

The second shoot I help work with was, tap dancers which was really interesting, you get to see everything but you rarely see tap dancers. they were really got and had lost of nice beats. I got to work the cameras and play the piano (but don’t tell anyone). Everything went well but i had to leave early.

A Girl Like Me

July 15, 2008

Today, July 15th, 2008, I saw the short documentary “A Girl Like Me”. The documentary was nothing short of amazing. I was really sad because 15 out of 21 of the black children choose the white doll over the black doll. It really shows how America portrays black people and i showed how it was instilled in our children’s minds at a early age. The teenage girls gave a great insight on how growing up light skin and dark skin can affect our views on ourselves. I myself had to come to terms with loving my skin complexion because at a young age people told me that because i was dark that I was ugly. But now that I am older and much wiser I know that my skin, culture and background is simply beautiful.

Interview and Debate

July 9, 2008

Today July 9th, 2008, the interns had to interview as well as debate each other. I really like the questions I was asked. I got to express my views on teen sex as well as sky rocket process of Universities. When I gave the interview, I gave very insightful questions on the African American race and Music. I also participated in the debate that had to do with pre-marital sex. Even though I was for premarital sex, I still respected the other interns opinions. I had a real good time.

Our Project

July 3, 2008

Today July 3rd, 2008, created to projects on film. One being a short P.S.A . about teens and drugs. I played a persistent drug dealer that was trying to sell a young teen some weed. I like playing parts like that because it out of my normal persona. I actually watched a film yesterday to gain an approach on how a drug dealer mannerisms are “supposed” to be. The second short film was a sneaker commercial, in which I played the guy with the best sneakers on and the other to characters were having difficulties because their sneakers were not “as good” as mine were. Again a different role for me because I had to come off very cocky which is not a trait of mine at all, but nevertheless I had a good time on the project. We will start shooting outside after lunch so I can not wait!

Five Questions

July 1, 2008

1. Describe BCAT and the people you’ve met ?

My impressions of BCAT so far have been great. I love the environment that I have been placed in. It’s filled with energy due to the charisma of the interns as well as the staff. The other interns have created great ideas for the scene that we will be doing tomorrow. The staff is very supportive, kind and makes me feel welcomed here.

2. What do you do?

On my free time I like to go out to parties, listen to music, dance, and read. Also I do stand up Comedy around New York City. Also I am an aspiring actor, so I write dialogs and come up with scenes as a form of brain storming. Lastly I am very active in my Fraternity, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, INC. I participate in step shows, and do events around the city as well as in my school.

3. What skills have you learned so far?

I have acquired basic skills in how to edit film, such as; how to cut pieces of film to put in a sequence, add effects and tranistions, and putting pieces of film together so that it makes sense.

4. What are your expectations from this internship?

I expect my self to come out of this situation with more knowledge about how television shows and movies are created and I expect that I will earn life long lessons in addition to tools that will help me further advance my career.

5. Why are you interning at BCAT?

I am interning at BCAT because this internship will further enhance my knowledge in the business of production, directing, and editing. Even though I have aspirations in being an Comedian/Actor, I still want to be well rounded in other fields of the entertainment business because there is no promise that I will become famous(even though I am very confident I am), so its always good to have bak up plans.
