Summer interns from the Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) and the Youth Channel dropped by BCAT for a tour. Our SYEP interns facilitated the tour, and were crucial crew members and TV hosts for their final project — a 28 minute show called TOPS (Teens on Politics).

That’s All I Need to Know!
August 14, 2008It’s been an unique time here at BCAT. I could actually call this place my job for seven weeks. That’s pretty cool. Today I got in at 11 and started working on brushing up the video. I contributed a lot to the production just as all of us did. Thanks to Lyra and Carlos, the project will be at it’s best when aired.
It sucks that work ends tomorrow. The last day will be housed in Harlem. It seems like I just can’t get away from that place. Harlem, I guess is my home when you mention journalism. Speaking of Harlem, their awards ceremony is today at the CUNY Graduate School for Journalism. Anyhow, I will miss my position here. but I’m not too sad to be going, because I know this isn’t the end for me AT ALL. I’ve enjoyed the diversity of personalities I’ve encountered here. I can def. say BCAT is unique and I’ve learned a lot.
all the things that we’ve did here were fun. I’m so glad I didn’t get stuck with boring clerical work from SYEP. Next year, it’ll be BCAT or maybe MNN. Who am I kidding, all they do is edit, BCAT DEF. next year.
Signed Nyiesha,
Last two days of our summer internship
August 14, 2008It has been a long and very good experience, here interning for the summer youth program. Now, we are only here for 2 more days and we are gone. Their would be a lot of memories here because I was taught a lot. Leaving here i now know how to work an camera, how to produce, and edit. Since, when i get older I would hope to be very successful in the entertainment industry. I would always remember how I started and where I learn all this from, and if anyone were to ask me where did I learn all of my great talent, I would tell them, go to Bcat (Brooklyn Community Access television) and be a intern and you will learn everything that you need to learn. Interning here has went by kinda quick but, now school is in about two weeks, and i would be in a new school, making new friends, and doing hard work, at Washington Irving in Manhattan . Hopefully it’s a good school. Later.

Yesterday!!!
August 13, 2008Yesterday. Was awesome! I directed our show for T.O.P.S and I felt soo good. It was absolutely fun. (Laugh Out Loud]. But wow, I can’t believe it, and I’m actually gonna be on Television. Friday is our last day, and we are to have our T.O.P.S video in by then. So for the past two weeks, we have been doing the video interviews and editing a lot of footage. It takes a lot of work to come up with a final completion. I was so excited yesterday. We interviewed interns from MNN (Manhattan Neighborhood Network] after we showed them a tour around BCAT (Brooklyn Community Access Television]. Tiffany interviewed the first group and I interviewed the second group. It was so much fun…I can’t even stop saying it was so much fun. (Laugh Out Loud]. I ain’t even gone lie….I was really scared and nervous. But I got through it….and Now we’re about to edit it into our time line….bye. =]
Teens On Politics
August 13, 2008Yesterday I interviewed interns from Manhattan Neighborhood Network. I was so nervous but everyone said that I did well. The other interns were so nice it helped me relax a little. They had such great answers to the questions and had a real strong point of view. After me Jazmen had to ask another group of interns from Manhattan Neighborhood Network questions. I was doing audio on that and I helped out the director. The intern from Manhattan Neighborhood Network named Hillary helped me out with the audio. She was so nice and funny that we laughed a lot and we almost thought they could hear us on set. All together the interviews were really fun. Today we came in at 10 and we leaving at 4. I’m going to be going to Columbia University at 5 because its media day there for a girls basketball program. I hope that i can get there on time because this is important to me but if not i guess it will be ok. I feel really down today because i got some bad news. I hope today goes by smooth. Thats it for now,Bye!! ***Tiffany***

It’s AMAZING!
August 13, 2008Today I’m pretty excited to get started. We’re going to be editing the piece and finalizing it. I’m apart of edit crew, which consists of me and Jaryd. However, the others will be able to include their ideas as well. As of now, we’re waiting for Danielle to finish with her interview and then we’ll get started. I think that editing is what I want to pursue. I just like the idea of inventing a project and as Carlos would say “telling a story.” IT’S AMAZING!
